So often we hear ppl say I’ve died a 1000 deaths, but notably our physical body only dies once. However, there are spiritual and emotional deaths that we experience throughout our lifetime. These deaths have the ability to shape our mental outlook and perspectives on how we respond, recover and think thereby shaping who we are. Sadly, depending on how severe the situations some of us never fully recover but our lives are changed forever and who we were is no more. We pray that someone will throw us a lifeline but instead they throw confusion, separation, and misinformation because of their own lack of understanding. Thankfully, we can work through this by knowing who we are and not being afraid to ask for what we need. Identity, at its core, is the understanding of what someone or something is. Societal labels do not define who we are or who we become. To this end, mental pain can be worse than physical.
